Hurricane Kay has shaped in the Pacific off the shoreline of Mexico and is passing close to Socorro Island.
The tempest's most extreme supported breezes Friday are almost 40 mph (65 kph) with no critical change in strength expected during the following day or thereabouts.
Kay is focused around 280 (455 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California promontory and is moving northwest close to 8 mph (13 kph).
In the mean time in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Fiona is moving faster.
