JEE MAINS : The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national level test for admission to premier higher education institutions in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The examination is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board

For the year 2024, the advance city intimation slip is live and the B.Arch/B.Planning Admit Card is also live. The examination is scheduled to appear on 24 January 2024.

Here are the subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission:

  • B.E/B.TECH: Passed qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.
  • B.ARCH.: Passed qualifying examination with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • B.PLANNING: Passed qualifying examination with Mathematics.

JEE Main 2024 Latest Updates : Here are the latest updates on JEE Main 2024:

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the hall ticket for the JEE Mains 2024 first session scheduled on January 24, 2024.
  • Candidates appearing for Paper 2A (B.Arch), Paper 2B (B.Planning), and the combined Paper 2A & 2B can download their hall tickets.
  • The admit cards for the Joint Entrance Examination Main BE/BTech (paper 1) examination will be issued soon.
  • The JEE Main paper 1 admit cards will be made available on jeemain.nta.ac.in prior to the examination.
  • NTA has released the JEE Mains city intimation slip 2024 for paper 1 on January 18.

JEE Main 2024 Eligibility Criteria :  The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2024 are as follows:

  1. Age Criteria: There is no age limit for the candidates. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.

  2. Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India. Foreign national candidates, as well as NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs, can also apply.

  3. Total Attempts: Students can avail a maximum of three consecutive attempts for JEE Main. The exam will be held twice a year, so the total number of attempts a candidate can appear for is 6.

  4. Qualifying Exam: The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc

  5. Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination: Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2023.

  6. State of Eligibility: State code of eligibility means the code of the State from where the candidate has passed Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination by virtue of which the candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2023.

  7. Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 75% (65% for SC/ST) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 exam pattern is as follows:

Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech)

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject carries equal weightage.
  • Question Type: The questions are of the multiple-choice type with four options for each question. Candidates are required to select the correct answer.
  • Duration: The exam duration is 3 hours, with an additional 1 hour provided for candidates with 40% or more disability (if availing the service of a scribe).
  • Total Questions: JEE Main Paper 1 consists of 90 questions, evenly distributed with 30 questions per subject.

Paper 2A (B.Arch)

  • Subjects: Maths, Aptitude, Drawing
  • Question Type: MCQs and Numerical Value
  • Total Questions: 82 questions, 77 questions can be attempted

Paper 2B (B.Planning)

  • Subjects: Maths, Aptitude, Planning Based
  • Question Type: MCQs and Numerical Value
  • Total Questions: 105 questions, 100 questions can be attempted

Please note that there will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. The exam is scheduled for 2024 in two sessionsThe first session of the exam will be held in January and the second session in April.

Matrices and Determinants: Matrices, algebra of matrices, type of matrices, determinants, and matrices of order two and three, evaluation of determinants, area of triangles using determinants, Adjoint, and evaluation of inverse of a square matrix using determinants and, Test of consistency and solution of simultaneous linear equations in two or three variables using matrices.
  4. Permutations and Combinations: The fundamental principle of counting, permutation as an arrangement and combination as section, Meaning of P (n,r) and C (n,r), simple applications.
  5. Binomial Theorem and Its Simple Applications: Binomial theorem for a positive integral index, general term and middle term, and simple applications.
  6. Sequence and Series: Arithmetic and Geometric progressions, insertion of arithmetic, geometric means between two given numbers, Relation between A.M and G.M.
  7. Limit, Continuity, and Differentiability: Real–valued functions, algebra of functions, polynomials, rational, trigonometric, logarithmic, and exponential functions, inverse function. Graphs of simple functions. Limits, continuity, and differentiability.  
  8. Integral Calculus: Integral as an anti-derivative, Fundamental integral involving algebraic, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Integrations by substitution, by parts, and by partial functions. Integration using trigonometric identities.

What is the difference between JEE Main and JEE Advanced?
